Work-related injuries is clinically challenging and an expensive problem for our health care systems.

We do not live in a perfect world.  Accidents and injuries happens.  Work related injuries are a part of life.  It has been estimated by researchers that the annual cost of work related injuries each year is over $155 billion each year.

Sadly, much of those costs are for aggressive treatments, expensive diagnostics, and unnecessary surgeries.  Too many times, I have heard of patients who have an MRI evaluation done within a day of a work related lower back injury.  MRI’s are not bad diagnostic tests, but  quite often, the patient would have been better served by a ‘wait-and-see’ approach.
